John O'Hara (b. 1963) is a self-taught artist from Saint Louis focusing on large-scale abstract works. John's design and advertising background influences his style. Working in his Saint Louis studio, John's medium of choice is encaustic (beeswax and pigment). Known for his Tar series, Vinyl series, Botanical series, Sardinia series, and Get Your Shit Together series, John's body of work includes large scale works on custom sized boards specially designed and made for the incredible medium. His process is natural and organic and defined by the wax and its attention to color, line, and texture.

As a co-founder of Forsyth, a high end furniture and design studio, John began selling his work in 2018. Collectors quickly took notice. Michael Kors selected 3 of John's Tar paintings for his London flagship designed by Pamela Meech. And John’s Brands on Yellow is hanging in the lounge of New Orleans Maison de Luz, the new luxury hotel by Atelier Ace and designed by AD100 Studio Shamshiri. John's work is sold to collectors and designers around the world, exclusively through Forsyth in Saint Louis as well as Forsyth’s digital galleries on Artsy, 1stDibs, and Decaso.
